Applications needing ODS-5 disks
To aid the planning of disk volume organization, here is a list of
applications that require ODS-5 structured disks for either the program
or data storage. This list is most probably incomplete, if you do have
further information feel free to drop me a
note.
- Advanced Server (aka Pathworks)
- The Advanced Server product as such does not require ODS-5, but if users
want to use "Windows" file names (e.g. spaces, multiple dots), the
served share needs to be located on an ODS-5 volume.
- CSWS (Apache)
- Starting with version 2.0 of the hp secure Webserver, the software has to
be installed on an ODS-5 enabled disk.
- GNV
- While not a hard requirement, it is very strongly recommended to both
install the software and place files to be used with GNV on ODS-5 disks.
- Netbeans
- Both Netbeans itself and the Netbeans user direcories need to be located
on ODS-5 disks.
- Oracle (classic)
- Since Oracle 9.x, ODS-5 is mandatory for the disk holding the
Oracle executables. It is optional for the data disk.
- Python
- It is strongly recommended to install the Python language on an ODS-5 disk.
